Art Explorations

Description:

Creative kids crave more art experiences. They want to push their art farther but they don't know how. They need guidance and personalized instruction so they can take their vision to the next level. That's why I'm teaching this art class, where youth ages 9 and up can experiment and get messy while we learn about artists past & present from around the world. All from a real artist's studio in Waipahu, where kids are welcome to ask any question about the business side of selling their art, too!

  • Play with 2D and 3D art materials you haven't used before 
  • Get inspired by artists past and present from around the world, especially Hawaii artists & art history
  • Find out what the elements of art and principles of design are, and how you can use them to improve your art
  • Level up your art game with tips and tricks from a real artist (who also LOVES teaching!)

Materials and topics we may cover:

  • Watercolor and Acrylic Paint, tips, & techniques
  • Drawing techniques with pencil, charcoal, pastel, oil pastel
  • Sculpture with Polymer clay, paper clay, papier mache, found objects.....
  • Mixed Media - all kine!
  • Graphic Design & Photography
  • Hawaiian, Pacific, and Worldwide Art History integration
  • Local Artists & Living Artists around the world doing cool things

Supplies:

Everything is provided in class unless you would like to bring in something special!

8 weeks of lessons - Now enrolling for Private Lessons

Location:

My home studio is in my garage in Waipahu, mauka from Lowe's off H1/exit 7. Exact address will be manually emailed after registration. All students are expected to use materials responsibly and clean up afterwards. If your student cannot handle that or staying in the boundaries of my open-air studio, then another art studio may be a better fit. Please read the full policies here.

Please let me know if you need documentation or signatures for your homeschool setup. (I am a certified teacher in the state of Hawai'i and have a Bachelor of Science in Education (K-12 Art) if you need to meet certain instructor criteria.) 

Sibling/friend discount:

Available for 2 or more students! Registrations will have to occur at the same time to receive the discount. Age restrictions still apply due to safety in the studio and developmental appropriateness of projects/materials (Ages 9-17).
