Art Explorations (Mixed Media) Private Lessons

1.5-hr lessons
4 or 8 weeks of lessons

Description:

Creative kids crave more art experiences. They want to push their art farther but they don't know how. They need guidance and personalized instruction so they can take their vision to the next level. That's why I'm teaching this art class, where youth ages 9 and up can experiment and get messy while we learn about artists past & present from around the world. 

Goals of Art Explorations: 

• Play with 2D and 3D art materials you haven't used before 
• Get inspired by artists past and present from around the world, especially Hawaii artists & art history
• Find out what the elements of art and principles of design are, and how you can use them to improve your art
• Level up your art game with tips and tricks from a real artist (who also LOVES teaching!)

Materials and topics we may cover:

• Watercolor and Acrylic Paint, tips, & techniques
• Drawing techniques with pencil, charcoal, pastel, oil pastel
• Sculpture with Polymer clay, paper clay, papier mache, found objects.....
• Paper & fiber arts
• Mixed Media - all kine!
• Graphic Design & Photography
  
• Hawaiian, Pacific, and Worldwide Art History integration
• Local Artists & Living Artists around the world doing cool things

Supplies:

All supplies are included in the classroom, unless you would like to bring in something special. Doodling and planning future projects at home is highly encouraged. (See recommended supplies)

Scheduling:

Private lessons can be scheduled on flexible days and times. Please contact me first to make sure our schedules jive. My calendar page shows you some general days I'm available but is not a guarantee of availability. After we talk schedules, please register online for the class you want. 

I'll send you a link to my calendar so you can officially schedule your days/times. Other:

"How do I know my kid is ready for art class?"

All students are expected to use materials responsibly, clean up afterwards, and be safe in my art studio. If your student cannot handle that or staying in the boundaries of my studio, then another art studio may be a better fit. Please read the full policies here.

Homeschool and Charter School Students:

This class may qualify for reimbursement through charter schools. Please let me know if you need documentation or signatures for your home school or charter school records. I am a certified teacher in the state of Hawai'i and have a Bachelor of Science in Education (K-12 Art) if you need to meet certain instructor criteria.

Sibling/friend discount:

15% off for 2 or more students! Simply add the number of students to your cart for the lessons you would like to do together, and the discount will automatically be applied at checkout. Age restrictions still apply due to safety in the studio and developmental appropriateness of projects/materials (Ages 9-17).
