Acrylic paint is a versatile, fast-drying medium that is excellent for learning how to build layers and correct mistakes as you go. In these private lessons, we focus on craftsmanship and technical skills, such as color mixing and brushwork, using real-life objects or reference photos. Rebecca guides you through the process step-by-step, demonstrating techniques on her own canvas to help you understand the "hows and whys" of the medium.

What’s Included in Your Experience

• Logical Color Mixing: Learn a clear system for mixing colors to avoid "mud" and understand how to use value and saturation to create depth.
• Flexible Project Choice: Students have the flexibility to work on projects that interest them, such as landscapes or pet portraits. You can choose to work on multiple studies or one long-term, detailed painting.
• Technical Instruction: We move beyond basic applications to explore mediums like slow-dry additives or modeling paste for texture. Rebecca focuses on teaching concepts that apply to any style rather than forcing students into a specific artistic look.
• Observational Painting: Learn to translate what you see into paint by observing shapes, light, and shadow. This "think first, paint second" approach helps build the confidence to create the images you see in your mind.

Booking Details

• Ages: Adults and kids/teens ages 9–17 (youth lessons require instructor approval).
• Timeframe: 1.5 hours per lesson.
• Frequency: Lessons are typically held once per week or once every other week.
• Series Options: Packages of 4, 8, or 12 lessons are available. 
• Location: My home studio in Waipahu (mauka from Lowe’s off H1/Exit 7). The exact address is emailed after registration.
• Studio Readiness: All students are expected to use materials responsibly and follow studio safety rules. Please review our full policies here.

Investment

• Pricing: Select your lesson bundle from the drop-down menu.
• Supplies: All professional supplies, including Liquitex paints and canvases, are included for use in the studio. Students are encouraged to practice sketching and painting at home to reinforce classroom learning.

How to Schedule Your Lessons

1. Confirm Availability: Before purchasing, please check the calendar page for mutual availability. Lessons are 1.5 hours. (Lessons are typically held weekdays after 1pm and select Saturday afternoons.)
2. Purchase Your Bundle: Once you've confirmed a time slot that works for you, return to this page to purchase your 4, 8, or 12-lesson package.
3. Finalize Details: You will receive a confirmation email with a link to my calendar app to officially lock in your dates, or you may email/call to schedule them. Please check your spam folder for "Rebecca Block" if you do not see a message within a few minutes.
